about

This song was directly inspired by a gig we performed at a music festival whereat we were offered the "headline" spot. As Ben often quotes Loretta Lynn: "Sometimes you headline, sometimes you just play last". The lyrics are borne out of the frustration of being excited for this opportune show, but the room clearing out (including the opening bands and their fans) right before we started playing.

lyrics

I've been awake for too long
I had a thought, but it's gone
I feel like I'm forgetting
Something I meant to tell you
Oh yeah, our business is through
I'm leaving, and please don't follow
I can't wait to get back
And into my room

Don't mean to sound arrogant
Trust me, I know where I stand
I'm floating near the bottom
But when you look at yourself
Can't you see you're not treating yourself well
You've ruined all you said you loved
I don't believe
It's ever too late

To turn it around, turn it around
Turn it around, yeah, turn it around

Just sit and let me tell you
Why I've got a problem with you
You take, but you don't give, no
You're young and the world's in your hands
You've got a good lookin' band
The sun revolves around your head
You don't believe you'll ever get old
But you're getting old, you're getting old
You're getting old, yeah, you're getting old

Turn it around, turn it around
Turn it around, yeah, turn it around

The sun revolves around your head
The sun revolves around your head
The sun revolves around your head
The sun revolves around your head

The Hourlies Detroit, Michigan

The Hourlies are four Detroit scene vets that all reside somewhere in the space between garage
rock, blues, punk, and psyche rock. The result is blues guitar hooks, played at the speed of punk, with
just enough psychedelic chaos to keep things interesting.
